Case study

Tom Edwards Design

A studio site for a working sci-fi and fantasy illustrator, built to let the art do the talking.

The Tom Edwards Design homepage

The brief

Tom Edwards works across book covers and concept art, mostly in sci-fi and fantasy. His old site did the basics, but it didn't feel like a working artist's studio - it needed to put years of cover and concept work front and centre, without burying it under text.

What we built

  • A page-opening animation built entirely from his own portfolio art, with a few different layouts so a repeat visit doesn't look identical to the last one.
  • A full-screen video hero with a day/night toggle that shifts the whole page's mood, not just its colours.
  • A gallery pulling in real cover work, real pricing, and his actual social channels, rather than placeholder content.
  • An "Inspirations" section crediting the artists who've shaped his work, with links out to each of them.

The result

Live, and built entirely around showcasing one artist's own work rather than a generic studio template.
